This is a study of older faces all of which are generated through Midjourney AI and edited in Photoshop.

The ideas behind this project are twofold. First is to portray the experience and wisdom that come through aging reflected through these weathered characters’ faces. The second is to reveal the range of emotions from sadness, peace, acceptance, caution, and joy.

All portraits are of non-existent “individuals” generated only through entering appropriately suggestive text commands into the AI engine.

I was surprised to see the racial and age related biases of the images generated. It took many iterations to get past the AI’s stereotyping.
